The most famous Malaysia dessert is called Cendol. It would be served in takeaway cup nowadays and sold as street food. Even though it is famous, not necessarily you can find it anywhere. You still have to depend on luck.
The taste is also vary. It depends on the sellers, like what kind of jelly or bean might be available in his stall.
I grow with the love of eating durian. So,Durian Cendol is really attracting me.
I found Durian Cendol when I was on my trip to Bandung Indonesia. I bought a bowl of it just by the street in front of a shop. It was called Es Cendol Durian. I was surprised with such rich and tasty fresh icy dessert. It was a wow moment for me. Yes! Unforgettable taste.
Now, I am going to bring up 3 of the best Durian Cendol I found in the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Yes i am going to rate them according to my tongue.
Here is one of the famous shop selling Durian Cendol. The is named Cendol Durian Runtuh. The price of the Cendol will depend on the Durian. The Durian has many types and prices. The Durian called Musang King will cost RM 35 including a bowl of Cendol. The bowl of Cendol will consist of coconut milk, local green jelly, blended ice, a spoon of sweet corn and some liquified sugar. Here you can see in the picture, the Durian is separated from the Cendol. You have to put the Durian into the Cendol yourself.
As for me the bowl is way too big yeah, even though I love the generosity. It is too much coconut milk and I feel my stomach is full of water. I love the Durian but I couldn’t taste the Durian blending with the coconut milk. Emmm.. I guess I give it 3.5 star rate.
The 2nd shop is EZY Durian. I found this shop on a social media. The look of the Cendol itself is tempting. So I drove here. It is a small malay shop. It is not only selling Durian Cendol but also fried Cempedak (a kind of local jack fruit).
I was surprised the price of a bowl of Cendol with Musang King Durian is only RM10.
Emmm wow it is cheap and I am happy not spending much for Musang King Durian.
What I found out is, in the Cendol there is only ONE Durian served with Cendol. I was laughing to myself.
The Cendol is filled with local green jelly, brown sugar and blended ice. I’m not happy but I finished a bowl of Cendol. I think 3 stars is fine for this one.
Finally, I go to TTDI Damansara for the 3rd Durian Cendol. The shop is called Durian King. This shop is behind a market.
The price of a bowl of Durian Cendol Musang King is only RM25 per bowl. This time the Cendol is mixed with green local jelly, brown sugar, blended ice and Durian Musang King on top.
The bowl is medium size and it is just nice. I could feel the mixture of Durian and coconut milk is complimenting each other. Now this is great. I forget the world and Cendol durian is at its finest. This should be rated 5 stars. Love it.
If you come to Malaysia, don’t forget to try Cendol Durian!
